Man Arrested After Purse-Snatching Spree In Dartmouth & Fall River

Police have arrested a man who they say is homeless and charged him with assault and battery, robbery and attempted robbery.

28-year-old Marc Salgado was picked up in soon after he allegedly stole a purse from a 63-year-old-woman in Fall River. Dartmouth police also accuse him of stealing a purse from a woman in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Faunce Corner Road. They say he was armed with a knife. Salgado is also accused of knocking down a 91-year-old woman near Kohl's department store and taking her purse.

A van he was seen riding in was pulled over at the Dartmouth Towne Center and some cash from the Fall River robbery was recovered. The van's driver, 29-year-old Laurie Souza of Dartmouth was charged with unarmed robbery.
