Malfunctioning Dump Truck Takes Out Power Lines in Acushnet

A dump truck with a raised container snagged power lines as it drove into the entrance of the P.J. Keating quarry on South Main Street in Acushnet Tuesday afternoon.

Acushnet Police on scene say the truck had been experiencing hydraulic malfunctions before the incident, causing the large metal container to raise to the "dump position" on it's own, pulling down at least one power line at the entrance to the quarry.

Eversource is now on scene to make the necessary repairs.

That section of South Main Street is closed as the scene is being cleared.
