Longtime Fans of The Old Company Store in Wareham Are Saddened
The Old Company Store in Wareham has shut their doors for good after being open for 24 years. But why?
The owner, Sandi Assad is retiring and so is the store. According to Wareham Village Soup, she first opened the store on April 1, 1993.
The store sold a wide variety of stuff from penny candy, gourmet chocolate and books to jewelry, handbags, and trendy clothing . They were located next to the historic Tremont Nail Company which was established in 1819. The Old Company Store's building was built in 1890.
Originally, the store was suppose to close in the summer but their Facebook page stayed active up until December 6th, talking about free shipping... So maybe the actual store is closed and they have a little online store you can shop at? Here's the link they keep posting here.
Many people think the Elm Street bridge closing for maintenance and the town and stating fighting over who owns the bridge has something to do with the store losing business as over there is shut down completely and now the store is somewhat hidden because the street is closed.
