Local artists, who live and work in Westport and Dartmouth, will be opening their doors to art enthusiasts this weekend for the eighth annual Art Drive.

This year’s Art Drive will highlight 32 unique artists who were carefully selected through a juried process. Each artist has a different talent to exhibit in their art forms, including paintings, photography, ceramics, glass and metal pieces.

The organizer of the Art Drive, Beverly Carter says, the 15-mile, creativity-filled route is for art lovers and collectors alike.

“It’s a great day trip or a weekend trip,” Carter said. “Lots of people come back year after year, and people who live here host weekend guests.”

Veteran artists will be featured as well as some “young blood,” as Carter describes them, who are recent graduates of Boston University and Mass. College of Art.

Each year, the artists create a design from a selected fish and this year’s four-foot “Bodacious Bonitos” will be the muse. The creations will be on display at the artists’ studios and subsequently auctioned off on Monday.

You can view and bid on the fish on eBay on www.the-art-drive.com, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Lloyd Center for the Environment.

The Art Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 and Sunday, Aug. 9 and takes place along a 15-mile mapped route through Dartmouth and Westport.
