8 year old Tyler Doohan was a brave little boy with a huge heart.

He was staying with some family in a single-wide trailer in Upstate New York this past weekend, when he noticed the trailer was on fire.  It was the middle of the night, but Tyler thought quickly and was able to wake up 6 family members, 2 of them younger children than he was, and they all made it out safely.  Way to go Tyler!

However, Tyler noticed his disabled Grandfather was still inside and would need assistance to make it out of the trailer.  After Tyler had made it out safely, he ran back in, in an attempt to save his Grandfather, who he called his best friend.  It's truly devastating to learn that neither one of them were able to make out safely, they both succumbed to heat and smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it's believed to be an accident.

Tyler's uncle was also killed in the fire, as well as several animals, dogs, cats, a rabbit and hamsters.

The Superintendent of Tyler's school had this to say:  "In bravely and selflessly giving his own life, he was able to save the lives of six others -- and he truly is a hero."

Rest in Peace sweet boy.
