Lebanese Kitchen Ready To Open In Mattapoisett During The Fall

The new Lebanese Kitchen restaurant is about 75% complete and will be opening soon!

The Lebanese Kitchen will soon be home to the former Mattapoisett Chowder House on 79 Fairhaven Road.

Lebanese Kitchen owner, Nabir Moujabber, was hoping to open around Memorial Day, but complications further pushed back the Grand Re-Opening of the Family ran establishment. Nabir had purchased the building in February and has been hit with many issues regarding the old restaurant that he was unaware with before making the purchase from the Chowder House owner.

"The roof will set us back around $64,000, but has been fixed", Moujabber stated. Electrical work had been busy over the past couple weeks, but is currently in the works for competition. Tiles, sinks, and paint on the back part of the restaurant are amongst the minor repairs and additives to the restaurant's "To-Do" list.

According to Moujabber, "The function room, dining room and bar area is complete with only minor things to add and finish. Our lawyer has helped us obtain our liquor license so we can be able to serve alcohol as one of the changes."

New to the Lebanese Kitchen, they now have access to a brick oven for fresh baked bread that will be made in front of people, filling the restaurant with a rich aroma.

Spending money has been "way over budget" according the Nabir. There is not a set timeline for the opening day but he will say that the restaurants opening will be "sometime in the fall."

A few employees are lined up to work for the restaurants opening. He will be looking to hire more people in a month of so and will be asking for applications during that time.

Opening there new location has brought the Moujabbers a few complications, including some miscommunication between them and their new neighbors.

"The town itself have no problems with us, but with heavy equipment being operated on a nearby property (Mattapoisett Diner), there was some confusion between us and the neighbors and we were blamed for cutting down trees and brush without a permit."

The Moujabbers explained the confusion and everything has been settled and made well.

"We just want to thank our loyal customers and new ones who we have not yet met for being patient and who have waited for us to open throughout this tiresome transition." Son of Nabir, Gary Moujabber said. "We promise it will be worth the wait."
