Residents in Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover have joined a class action lawsuit against the company that supplies natural gas to those communities after a series of violent explosions and fires last week.

The law firm of Morgan & Morgan filed the suit on Tuesday on behalf of residents who were forced to evacuate their homes. The suit seeks compensation for residents who did not experience injuries or damage to their homes.

Frank Petosa, one of the lawyers handling the lawsuit, said the firm is looking to provide justice and compensation to the affected families and hold Columbia Gas and it's parent company, NiSource, accountable.

Columbia Gas has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.

The explosions killed a teenage boy and injured dozens more. Investigators say the pressure in the gas lines at the time of the explosions was twelve times higher than it should have been.
