Although the first ever huge TV sitcom hasn't filmed a new episode in over 60 years, I Love Lucy remains a favorite re-run for viewers of all ages.   For a couple of the show's seasons, Shirley Mitchell played Lucy's friend Marion Strong, best remembered by her cackling laugh.   Mitchell was believed to be the last-surviving cast member from the show.   The actress died earlier this week at age 94.

Mitchell went on to appear on other popular TV shows after her seasons with "Lucy."  She was on "Perry Mason," The Dick Van Dyke Show," and "The Beverly Hillbillies."

"I Love Lucy" aired live on CBS for 6 seasons, and was the most-watched show in American for 4 of those seasons.   The show starred the great Lucille Ball and her Cuban-born husband, Desi Arnaz.
