Wednesday is the deadline to make sure you're eligible to vote in the city-wide casino referendum election later this month. In the June 23 election, voters will decide whether to approve KG Urban Enterprises' plans to build a waterfront casino just outside of downtown.

Residents who are not currently registered to vote have until 8pm Wednesday to do so.

Election Commissioner Maria Tomasia says with such a popular topic, the City wants as smooth an election as possible. "This election that we're having is anticipated to be (a) high percentage turnout of people that will be coming because there seems to be a lot of interest on this vote. So we're going on (that) assumption. This is the last day," said Tomasia.

Registered voters looking to make changes to their name or address also face the same deadline. Those looking to register or make changes can do so at the Elections Office at City Hall.

Absentee ballots for the referendum will be available shortly.
