Day 7 - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Make Grammy History

Before Will Smith was a blockbuster actor, he was The Fresh Prince, a rapper from West Philadelphia.

He and his partner Jazzy Jeff won the first ever Grammy for Best Rap Performance in for their hit "Parents Just Don't Understand in 1989. The other nominees were J. J. Fad for "Supersonic", Kool Moe Dee for "Wild Wild West", LL Cool J for "Going Back To Cali", and Salt-n-Pepa for Push It.

Because the category was not going to be televised, so Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff led a boycott of the show. LL Cool J and Salt-n-Pepa joined in the protest. Salt-n-Pepa said, "If they don't want us, we don't want them."

And THAT is Junior's Black History Month Fact Of The Day!
