Jerry Remy Will Sit Out Rest Of Red Sox Season

Former Red Sox second baseman and Somerset native Jerry Remy won’t be back in the broadcast booth this season.  NESN has released a statement where Remy said “Now is not the time to come back.”

Remy’s 34-year-old son, Jared, has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and domestic assault in the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Martel.   Jerry Remy said he is “full of grief for the Martel family.”   Remy also said he hopes to return to the broadcast booth in the spring.   he has been the color analyst for Red Sox games on NESN since 1988.
