Jenni Rivera Dead in Plane Crash
Wreckage from the plane carrying Mexican American singer Jenni Rivera has been found. It is with heavy hearts we report that there were no likely no survivors of the crash.
The Los Angeles Times reports that a small LearJet carrying Rivera and six others was found in mountains near Nuevo Leon, slightly south of Monterrey. The plane reportedly left Monterrey at approximately 3:30AM after one of Rivera’s concerts in the city and was en route to Toluca. The aircraft lost contact about 10 minutes after takeoff, traveling about 61 miles.
TMZ reports that no remains have been identified.
Rivera, affectionately known as “la diva de la banda,” has sold 1.2 million albums and 349,000 digital tracks in the United States alone. The star was the namesake of the ‘I Love Jenni’ reality show and was developing a deal with ABC to star in her own series called ‘Jenni’ about a feisty single mom.
Rivera is survived by five children and a grandchild as well as her estranged third husband, former Major League Baseball player Esteban Loaiza.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rivera’s family, friends and fans during this tragic time.
