Jasiel Correia's swearing in ceremony is planned for January 4th.

Fall River's new mayor will be sworn into office just after New Year's.

On January 4th at Durfee High School Correia will officially become Fall River's youngest mayor at 10 a.m.

There will also be a ball later that night at Venus De Milo starting at 6 p.m.

Correia spoke with NBC10 recently about his plans for the city and says he will be working to "reduce and eliminate" the trash fee.

He also told the news station he has surrounded himself with people he trusts, like a high school friend who will be his chief of staff, and says he plans to "be one of the most hands on administration in the region."
