The author of the Harry Potter books has teamed up with Warner Brothers for a Harry Potter spin-off film series.  The franchise will be inspired by the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.   That will be the title of the first film, and J.K. Rowling will be the screenwriter.

Inspired by Warner Brothers suggestion to her to turn Fantastic Beasts into a film, Rowling pitched her own idea for how it should look.   "Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world." Rowling told the BBC.
