Yes, that's right. It's ok to have a selfie stick. It's also ok for you to use said selfie stick. Do you want to know why? Because, it's ok to do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want, as long as you aren't hurting anyone.

I read something on Facebook a little earlier today that really upset me. It was a comment regarding selfie sticks, and the person suggested that anyone who owns and uses a selfie stick should, "kill yourself". I understand that sometimes people think selfie sticks are annoying and perhaps he was kidding. I bet if I were to question his comment, I am pretty sure that is the response I would have gotten, 'just kidding'. However, even joking, it's not funny. If you're using the hashtag, 'kill yourself' in response to anything, you are part of the problem.

That problem is, online bullying. I feel like bullying, especially in the form of online, is worse than ever. Here's the thing, there are usually no immediate consequences. Anyone can go online and be a tough guy behind a keyboard and write pretty much anything they want, think or feel and most of the time, nothing happens. Sometimes things do happen and the tough guy behind the keyboard will never know about, but that doesn't make it ok.

We live in a world where people are judged everyday for just being themselves. It's so hard in the year 2015 to just walk about on this Earth and be who you are, and that is sad. Just think for one second, what would happen if everyone tried to be kind instead of being mean? Being kind is easier, and it feels better. Stop passing judgement on people for trivial little things like selfie sticks. Does someone using one affect your life at all? Probably not.

I have a selfie stick. I got it for Christmas from my Mother-in-Law. I love it because she thought of me when she was buying it. She thought it would be something I would like because I enjoy taking pictures and she was right. I am thankful that she thought of me enough to buy me something. I use it when I want to capture memories of me and my husband or me and my friends. I don't use it because I'm narcissistic. I promise, you'll be so much happier if you just live your life and let others live theirs...even if theirs includes a selfie stick.
