I'll admit, Stove Top is tasty... But homemade Portuguese stuffing completes my Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure if it's the spicy twist to a Thanksgiving favorite that lures me in every time, or perhaps the simple expectation of a family tradition year after year.

Now, don't get me wrong... if you serve me a plate with a side of old fashioned stuffing, chances are it's going to be gobbled up in seconds, there's zero doubt about that. I'm only stating preference if a choice was available.

Backtracking to the "spicy twist" aspect of this delicious side dish, I feel as though it adds the perfect pairing with turkey. It may sound a bit sinful to some, but I'll admit... sometimes I'll add a drizzle of gravy to top it off. Most of the time, it's not even needed, there's enough flavor in the side dish to do without.

For those who are curious about the key ingredients and the secret to making a successful stuffing, here's the inside details, you'll need two main items:

  • Portuguese Rolls (Pop Secos) (Day Old Preferably)
  • Corn Bread

Mix those two ingredients together, throw some red and green peppers (hotness of peppers to your preference), some chopped up onion and garlic, crushed red pepper, a couple of eggs (beat to a liquid base), a dash of Portuguese All Spice and of course.... the Chourico or Linguica or both... and BAM!

Like I mentioned... this is simply my opinion, all stuffing is delicious and of course I'm grateful for food regardless!
