That is the question now being considered at Bristol Community College.  Campus police at UMass Dartmouth and Bridgewater Sate University already carry guns, and some people feel it's time for BCC police officers to do the same.

There is a public meeting scheduled at the college's Fall River campus to discuss the proposal.  There are seven full-time officers at BCC, and all are academy-trained and have the power to arrest.

The college has been considering this for the past year as part of its preparedness training and development of plans to protect life and property in the event of an emergency.  BCC said that if the plan is put in place, all officers will be fully trained in the use of firearms.
