For years, I've been ranting that Halloween would be so much better if it were moved to the final Saturday of October.  Massachusetts lawmakers are finally responding.

According to WCVB 5, a Pembroke selectman wants to change Halloween's date to the last Saturday of October, just like I've always suggested! A bill was filed by State Rep. Josh Cutler to change the celebration even though he himself isn't too convinced on changing it himself.

"Having young kids I know it isn't always ideal having Halloween on a school night, but I'm also a believer in holiday traditions." Cutler said in an email.

The president of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police said initially that the idea seems pretty good, but he did note that when Halloween falls on a Saturday that there is a significant rise in "mischief".  One benefit, however, would be that there would be more time for children to trick or treat during the daylight hours.

The next time October 31st lands on a Saturday is in the year 2020.
