I've had the IPhone for a couple years. Great phone, no doubt about that, but I was recently intrigued by the new Galaxy 5, and I was also due for an upgrade.

So, off to the store I went to switch over. The galaxy 5s is a great phone, clear crisp display, amazing camera, and fast. One problem, I wasn't getting any text messages from anyone using an iPhone. Not a single one. It wasn't TOO big a deal to me, I won't go crazy if i can't be reached. As long as anything related to my daughter gets through to me, I'm ok, but for those of you who would collapse at the thought of text messaging not working, just follow this simple step.

BEFORE you deactivate your iPhone, turn OFF iMessage in settings. Be sure to do this on your iPad, or IMac as well. If you do that, you will be good to go. If you forget, then get rid of your iPhone, or deactivate service, it will take forever for Apple to release your number.
