How To Ask A Business to Host Your Lemonade Day Stand

One of the first lessons in Lemonade Day is Site Selection - choosing the location that is best for your business.

As everyone knows, there are three things that matter in real estate: Location, Location, Location!  Part of being a successful business is being at the right place at the right time. In fact, it may be the single most important decision you'll have to make for your business.

If you've got your eyes set on a location that has the crowd you are looking for and the space you need to set up - the only thing left to do is ask permission to be there!  Here is a quick script that you can use to get you started:

With an adult, call the business (or visit) and ask to speak with the manager:

Hello Mr. or Ms. Name, My name is and I am participating in an educational event called Lemonade Day Southcoast. Are you familiar with the event?

If the person answers "Yes":

Great! I am starting my own small business of a Lemonade Stand. Would you be interested in allowing me to have my lemonade stand in front of your store on Saturday, May 5, 2018?  This would bring more traffic to your store, because my caring adult and myself will be telling all of our friends and family where I will be stationed on May 5th.

If the person answers "Yes": 

Thank you so much for your generosity!

If the person answers "No":

Thank you for your time. Have a great day.

If the person answers "No" to knowing about Lemonade Day Southcoast:

Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches kids how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. We learn to make budgets, setting money-making goals, provide good customer service and give back to our community.  Would you be interested in allowing me to have my lemonade stand in front of your store on May 5th? This would bring more traffic to your store because my caring adult and myself will be telling all of our friends and family where I will be stationed.

If the person then answers "Yes":

Thank you so much for your generosity! Please let me know what time I am allowed to set up and what time I need to break down my stand.

If the person answers "No":

Thank you for your time. Have a great day.

Remember, once you've confirmed your stand location, you'll want to register your stand on our official Lemonade Day Southcoast Map (button linked below). We'll use this map to create commercials for Fun107 radio, flyers and more as Lemonade Day gets closer.
