If you had one million dollars in cash and were to give up working, how long would the money last?  Well, in comparison to the other 49 states, it wouldn't lst too long in Massachusetts.  Only Hawaii, California, Alaska and New York top the Bay State when it comes to how quickly it would be spent.

According to CNBC.com, the million dollars would last you 17 years and 4 months.  The report says the average cost of living here is $57,795 a year, making this the most expensive state in New England.

If you were to win, inherit or save up a million bucks, consider moving to Mississippi.  At an annual cost of living at just under $38,000 a year, the money would last you for over 26 years.
