The first really cold day here on the Southcoast means HOT homemade soup served with a smile.

I knew I was going to get soup for lunch today the minute I got into work because wow was it COLD at 5am this morning.  32 degrees to be exact.  So I knew I was getting soup but the question was, WHERE?

Then I remembered...  I've driven by Destination Soups on Union Street in downtown New Bedford several times and have never actually made it in there, until today!  They are not NEW by any means, yet a lot still don't know about them.  So I thought I'd share with you how delicious my chicken veggie soup was today.  YUM.  On the creamy side which I wasn't expecting, but very good.

I also ordered their famous Wunderkind, which they've dubbed, the healthiest salad in town.  And I agree.  Piled high with mixed greens, cukes, shredded carrots, avacado, red quinoa, roasted beets, curry toasted almonds and a super-healthy dressing on the side if you'd like.  Sooo good!

I got there right when they opened at 11am and the place smelt like soup heaven when I walked through the door.  The guys were friendly and fast to get you in and out if you were not dining in.  It's a very cool space with a laid back, comfortable feel to it.  Trendy in a "not trying to be trendy" way :)  So next time (and there will be many more next times) I will eat there, for sure.

Check out Destination Soups downtown if you haven't yet.  Now that winter is coming, you'll want to warm up with your favorite soup and sandwich or salad and they've got many choices on their daily menu (see above).

You might even see the big guy there sometime this holiday season.  Santa LOVES Destination Soup!
