A horse was pulled from a swamp in Westport after being stuck in mud for hours.

NBC 10 reports that a horse had to be rescued from a swamp on Main Road by fire fighters this evening after it was stuck in mud for several hours.

Reports say multiple fire trucks were used to pull the horse free around 7:30 p.m.

A man who works on the farm where the horse was stuck was injured in the rescue. He was kicked in the chest during the rescue and had was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

NBC 10 says a large animal rescue team was initially called to the scene from Methuen, but was later cancelled due to a two hours travel time.


The farm where the horse was stuck belongs to the family of 24-year-old man who tragically died in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday.
