NEW BEDFORD — A homeless man is arrested in New Bedford for allegedly attacking another man with a knife at Fort Taber.

Police responded to the park at around 1 a.m. Friday morning for a report of an altercation between two men that were known to each other. The victim told police that the other man had attacked him with a knife, though no serious injuries were reported.

Police arrested the alleged attacker, William Callaghan, 55, of New Bedford, and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police say Callaghan has no listed address in the city.
