This season, Fun 107 teamed up with the United Way of Greater New Bedford to help bring a bit of light to Southcoast families who've had a trying year this year.

This New Bedford family of five currently relies on dad's minimal income in order for mom to care for their three children, including a 5 year old who is wheelchair bound due to Spina Bifida.  With siblings who are 4 and 6, the 5 year old wants very badly to be able to ride bikes with her brother and sister but can only do so with the help of a specially engineered bicycle designed to support her medical needs.

She would love this bike as she wants to have as normal of a childhood as she can. Unfortunately, the bike costs over $3,000.

The special-order bike is not covered by any insurance and the family never imagined that getting the bike was possible, as it costs over $3,000 out of pocket.

If you'd like to help the family make this dream come true or help with additional needs, they have a 6 year old  son (interested in electronics), and two girls, ages 4 and 5 who would like princess toys and a tablet if possible.

Drop-offs are being accepted at the Fun107 Studios at 22 Sconticut Neck Road, Fairhaven, MA and at the New Bedford Community Connections Coalition Family Resouce Center, 105 William Street, New Bedford, MA.  Checks can be made out to the United Way of Greater New Bedford with "Freedom Bike" in the memo.
