A fire that broke out Thursday has completely destroyed a home in the beautiful historic section of Newport…

Most of the homes in the mansion section of Newport have actual names. In this case, the Stoner Lodge on Bellevue Avenue was the mansion that went up in flames. Local fire officials responded to the fire Thursday afternoon and were able to bring it under control with no injuries reported.

According to WCVB, city records say that the home and property was once owned by the late John Drexel III and Noreen Stoner Drexel. He was the head of a very successful Philadelphia banking family and his great-great-grandfather was a business partner of J.P. Morgan and also found and created Drexel University.
