The Massachusetts Environmental Police are warning hikers across the state of wire cable being strung on area trails.

Environmental Police took to Facebook to warn hikers after several complaints of wire cable being "malicious strung across trails" were reported.

The trails affected include ones in Freetown State Forest along with F. Gilbert Hills State Forest in Foxboro, Franklin State Forest and Wrentham State Forest.

These trails are also open to dirt bikes and ATVs according to FB comments, so riders should be extra careful as well.

No word on if there have been any injuries, but police are asking anyone who may see anything suspicious while out in these state forests to contact 24 hour Environmental Police at 1-800-632-8075 or the Department of Recreation and Conservation's park watch hotline at 1-866-759-2824.
