According to ESPN, Mass State Police have been in contact with police in Gainsville, Florida about a 2007 double shooting.  They think Aaron Hernandez might have been involved.  He was a freshman player with the Florida Gators at the time.  The shooting happened a week after two men got into a fight with a group of Florida football players (a group that included Hernandez) at a club.

As they were waiting for the light to change, the Hawaiian (or Hispanic) football player and Reggie Nelson walked up to their car on the right side.  Then without saying a [word], the Hawaiian pointed a small handgun in the front right window and fired five quick shots. Cason saw Smith slump over with blood coming out of the back of the head, at which time the Hawaiian and Nelson took off running towards McDonald’s.   --Gainsville Police report

The two men survived the shooting.  Police tried to interview Hernandez after the shooting, but he wouldn't talk to them...he “invoked his right to counsel.” That same day, according to the police report, the victim “rescinded his identification of Aaron Hernandez".  The police report indicates that at one point Hernandez had been identified as the shooter.
