Amanda Peets came to us looking for some help.

Amanda's brother, brother Scott Peets, is a veteran and when he came back from Afghanistan decided to start a farm “Peets Farm” as a career which is something he is passionate about, getting fresh local foods to the community. He does local New Bedford and Westport farmers markets.

Anyhow, he and his wife are expecting their first bundle of joy together in October. The baby's name will be Hunter Ray Peets, at a recent doctor's appointment Amanda's brother and sister in law found out some life changing news. Hunter was going to be born with a rare heart defect. He is missing his pulmonary aorta and has Tetrology of Fallot. When Hunter is born he will have to undergo many surgeries, with the first one being anywhere from the seconds he is born to within the first week.

After that first surgery depending on how the surgery turns out he will have to undergo more. He will be born at one of the greatest hospitals around so the fmaily knows they will be in excellent care.

But there is a really big problem that the Peets family needs your help with. The insurance company is out of network and they will have a large deductible to meet before the insurance will even cover 50% of the cost. The insurance company will not cover the full expense of little Hunter Ray Peets' care.

Scott's friend from the military and his wife have organized a run called “Run for Hunters Heart” that will be held annually, to help raise awareness for this horrible heart defect that will affect not only my nephew but other babies born and others that have been born with it.

The Run is going to be held September 27th at 9am sharp on the Cape Cod canal. To register it is $22 and then the day of the run it will be $30. You can register at active.com.  They will have raffles, prizes for the winners, and goody bags! So make sure you help the Peets family and little Hunter!
