Ben Powers, who played Thelma's husband Keith Anderson on the final season of "Good Times" in 1978, has died at the age of 64.

According to CNN.com, his family announced Powers died on April 6 in New Bedford, however did not reveal a cause.

Although he was born in Brooklyn, Powers was raised in Providence by his grandparents and attended the Rhode Island School of Design for painting and sketching before he began his career in acting.

He was discovered by a Hollywood agent while doing stand-up routines in Providence. Some of his other roles include parts on Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980), Cheech and Chong's Things Are Tough All Over (1982), and The Man Who Loved Women (1983) starring Burt Reynolds.

Powers also guest-starred on television shows "Gimme a Break," "Flamingo Road," "The Greatest American Hero" and "Laverne & Shirley."
