Being a good driver this Independence Day? It could score you a gift card in Tiverton.

Tiverton Police have upped patrols for the busy 4th of July holiday and say their officers are keeping an eye out for good drivers as well as bad.

On the Tiverton Police Facebook page was a post telling those traveling through the town that they could earn themselves gift cards to Dunkin Donuts or the Sakonnet River Grille just by obeying all the traffic laws.

The idea is to reward good driving and of course promote safety for others on and around the roads on a notoriously hectic holiday.

So if you're heading through Tiverton today, use your best driving skills.

You could end up with a $5 or $10 gift card for coffee and food. They say they also have one gift card valued at $17.76...in honor of the day.

And though Tiverton doesn't have any 4th of July fireworks themselves this evening, they are a way for many to get to the Bristol Parade and festivities there as well as the fireworks at Escobar Farm in Portsmouth. Those fireworks kick off at 9:15 p.m.
