It's been 21 months, so what's my excuse. I have always had to work hard at staying in shape, or losing weight. I know they say there's no "fat gene" but I am going to call Science's bluff.

Why is it that some women get pregnant and look like they swallowed a marble, while some of us put on 50-60lbs without even trying. Before I got pregnant, I was on a ultra low carb, high protein diet and I was training for the New Bedford Half Marathon. So in a three month period I had lost thirty pounds and was back in the pants I wore before I was married.

Needless to say I didn't restrict carbs while pregnant but I did maintain my fitness regimen. I ran or walked right until month 8. So why is it still so hard to drop the last 25-30? This has been the hardest I have ever had to work but I am determined to run the half marathon this March.

I ran five miles today. And I need to keep the momentum going. I have a very sedentary job, so I need to make a more conscious effort to take a walk at lunch. And one hour at the gym three to five days a week. If you see me out on a run, say hi! Maybe we can start an after baby fitness group!
