To celebrate the benefits of bicycling and support those working to build a more bicycle-friendly city. Mass In Motion New Bedford, The Department of Parks & Recreation, and the New Bedford Bicycle Committee will host the first annual New Bedford Pedal Party.  It will be Saturday at the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center on Hillman Street.

Those who show up can be part of a bike rodeo and get a free bike safety check.  The Pedal Party will have free giveaways, including bike helmets, locks and lights.

Mayor Jon Mitchell will kick-off the party with a 3.7 mile Family Bike Parade which begins at the Andrea McCoy rec Center at 10:30 Saturday morning.   There'll be a police escort for the riders.   Anyone living in the city and their families are invited.
