To all the cocktails waitresses and wannabe actresses waiting for their turn with serial dater George Clooney, you are out of luck. The notorious bachelor is a bachelor no longer, the impossible apparently is happening.

There were lots of rumors of an engagement between George Clooney and his latest love British attorney Amal Alamuddin. People magazine had been reporting since Saturday that Clooney had popped the question to Amal hearing from a source close to the couple that they

are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem. I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever."

This source also claimed that Amal had been seen on Thursday with a "huge ring" on her left hand ring finger.

But it was all just rumors really. Until today.

Probably wishing for better attorney/client privilege, Clooney and Alamuddin's big news was confirmed today by her law firm in London. They released a very official statement actually that reads

The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married."

Clooney's rep is still feeding media outlet the "I don't comment on my client's personal life" line, but I'm pretty sure a statement from a lawyer is enough for everyone to believe this marriage is really happening.

I honestly thought it wasn't possible, but congrats to the happy couple and kudos to Amal for snagging George Clooney!
