FUN 107 And Southcoast Health System Announce 4th Annual ‘Sharon’s Walk’

Before we lost my wonderful FUN 107 Morning show co-host Sharon Fogaren just under four years ago, she had already started planning a walk that would raise money to help in the fight against cancer,  and also pay tribute to her late mom, Elaine Fogaren.   Mrs. Fogaren passed away from breast cancer in 2004.  Sharon was taken from us before all the details and planning could be completed, so we decided to make her vision of the walk a reality.

The following spring, we had the first annual "Sharon's Walk" to benefit the Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, which was under construction in Fairhaven.   The public responded, and the walk was a huge success.

Now the center us complete and is treating hundreds of cancer patients.  But there is more to be done.  So FUN 107 and Southcoast Health System are proud to announce the 4th annual "Sharon's Walk."  The 5k walk will be held Sunday, September 29th at New Bedford's Fort Taber.    This year, the money raised will benefit the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care's Patient Caregiver Assistance Fund and the Southcoast Breast Center. All the money stay right here in our community.

Registration for this year's Sharon's Walk is now open.   The pre-registration fee is $20 per person. All pre-registered participants will receive a Sharon's Walk memorial T-shirt. The day-of registration fee is $25 per person, $10 for children under 12 and free for children in strollers.

Team prizes will be rewarded on the day of the event for the team that raises the most money, the best dressed team and the team with the most walkers. In order to be eligible for team prizes, the team must be pre-registered by September 26.
