As the school year winds down, the New Bedford Bay Sox players are visiting many area schools to encourage the summer reading program.   Today I joined Bay Sox pitchers Remy Janco and Jeremy Perron, along with team mascot Slamu at St. James St. John school in New Bedford.

The players read a book to the 1st and 2nd graders while Slamu acted out scenes from the book, and then answered many questions from the students.  The book was about Michael Jordan.

The Bay Sox guys fielded some great questions including "do you get nervous before a game?", "How many games have you played in your life?", "Who is your favorite major league player?" and even "Where do you stay during your summer season here in New Bedford?"    Best of luck to the Bay Sox on their season, and happy summer to the students and staff at St. James St. John.
