Casino Coming To Fall River

Last night the mayor of Fall River, Will Flanagan, took to his Facebook page to announce that a casino will be coming to the city..

The resort casino will feature a 140,000-square foot gaming floor, approximately 20 restaurants, a 350-room hotel, shopping mall, entertainment and convention center, and spa according to the Herald.

The mayor has declined to name the prospective site but rumors have linked the location to the New Harbour Mall area. The proposal still has to undergo negotiations through the city-wide public referendum.

This could be huge for the south coast and the city of Fall River if the casino becomes a reality. It would bring thousands of jobs and revenue into the area. All of us here on the FUN Morning Show are extremely excited about the addition of an entertainment complex because it would give us the opportunity to bring bigger musical guests to the area. But based on some comments on the mayor's Facebook update not everyone seems excited about this development. Many residents complained that the casino will bring more crime into the city, create gambling problems, and cause heavy traffic but I think the positives out-way the negatives.

We posted the breaking news yesterday on our Facebook page and just like comments on the mayor's update many of our listeners are not on board with the casino. Dawn Viveiros made a great point:
