A reality lots of former professional football players must face is putting on some extra weight once their time on the field is done. Now one former Patriot is battling that bulge on TV.

Damien Woody started his career in New England and was a member of the Super Bowl winning teams in 2001 and 2003. But when his career ended in 2010 (with a team that deserves no mention here), he found keeping those extra pounds off to be an issue.

Not that he was the skinniest of guys to begin with, I mean he played center after all. But at 36-years-old and 388lbs, Woody knew it was time for a change. So he auditioned for the cast of NBC's The Biggest Loser.

Woody is now one of the 20 former athletes who will be competing on season 16 of the reality series this fall with the goal of being named The Biggest Loser.

Among the other cast members is three-time Olympic gold medalist softball player Lori Harrigan-Mack, former WNBA player Vanessa Johnson and former Arizona State University football player John "JJ" O'Malley.

The new season will debuted on September 11 at 8pm on NBC.
