Probably one of the most underestimated natural disasters is the flood. I used the word disaster because even though it may not rip up houses and crack the concrete, it still can do quite a bit of damage! It's flood awareness week and with the way the weather has been the past few days, we can expect to see a lot more water around these parts. Luckily, we didn't have as nasty a winter as last year so we don't have to worry about the snow melting... But as my mom always taught me... The golden rule for floods, or pretty much anything else in life, is it's better to be safe than sorry. It takes 12 inches of running water to move a small car so if that puddle is starting to look like a mini lake... TURN AROUND! The US National Weather Service has a new PSA for this week's flood awareness and their motto is, TADD AKA Turn Around Don't Drown. Sounds pretty good to me. Here's a little video they put together...

Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry!
