Someone got quite the surprise at her high school graduation!

When Dawnielle Davidson of Wenatchee, Washington crossed the stage on Saturday at her high school graduation, the firefighter who saved her life 17 years earlier was there to cheer her on.

Davidson was a baby when Mike Hughes, a retired firefighter, made front page headlines for rescuing Davidson from her crib inside a burning home and carried her to safety.

According to Mashable.com, Hughes found Davidson on Facebook seven years after the fire and the two have remained in contact ever since.

After the graduation ceremony, Davidson stated, "It's really emotional. I don't really know how to describe it. They're happy tears just to realize that, you know, some things could have gone wrong."
