New Bedford Police say there were two overdoses in the downtown area Tuesday, one of them fatal.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says a pedestrian walking into the city on Route 6 found the body of a 26-year-old Fairhaven man in the bushes on the north side of the Elm Street Garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a hypodermic needle was found under the body. The State Medical Examiner's Office has taken custody of the body. The unidentified man had overdosed last month, and was revived with Narcan.

In a separate incident, a 52-year-old man was found Tuesday morning on the lawn of City Hall on the Pleasant Street side. Police administered Narcan and the man was transported to St. Luke's Hospital.
