SEEKONK — On Sunday, August 6, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Seekonk Police, Seekonk Rescue and Attleboro Fire personnel were sent to the area of 441 Pine Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Seekonk Police officers found a single car on its roof with utility wires hanging near the car. The vehicle had been traveling west on Pine Street before it went off the road and struck a utility pole.

National Grid was contacted for assistance. They subsequently cut off power to the area, which enabled public safety personnel to approach the car. The lone occupant/driver, who was partially ejected, was deceased. The driver was not wearing a seat belt. It is believed the driver succumbed to massive body trauma.

The operator was identified as 33-year-old Sean Letourneau. He was living in Seekonk with friends, althoug his license indicated he had been a Pawtucket, Rhode Island resident.

Although excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash, Seekonk Police will be awaiting the medical examiner's report to learn if there may have been other contributing factors to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Seekonk Patrol Officers and Seekonk Police Detectives. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Team and State Police Investigators from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office will be assisting with the investigation.
