Today on the FUN Morning Show, Ken Fiola, called in to discuss the development of Foxwoods coming to Fall River. Fiola is the city's VP of economic development.

He said the casino will be voted on this summer and if passed we could see construction beginning sometime next year. We reported yesterday that Foxwoods has purchased 30-acres of land in the south end of Fall River. Rumors are speculating that the resort casino will be built where the New Harbour Mall now stands.

Bringing a casino to the south coast area is huge. If it becomes a reality a 140,00-square foot gaming floor, 350-room hotel, convention/entertainment complex, approximately 20 restaurants, and a spa could bring thousands of jobs and create lots of revenue for the city. Everyone here at FUN 107 is excited about the possible entertainment complex. That would mean we would finally have a venue to bring big acts to this area. The residents of Fall River have mixed feelings about the casino. Some are concerned about the increase in crime and traffic but most seem to be excited about this.

Listen here to what Fiola had to say.
