In what may come as a surprise to just about everyone, Fall River has apparently thrown it's hat in the ring to make an attempt at hosting the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Now, bidding for the right to be the host city of the 2024 games does not officially get underway until 2015, but serious contending cities have already been hard at work putting together potential bids, as the process tends to be lengthy and intense. Nevertheless, Fall River Mayor, William Flanagan, has made it clear, via his Facebook page, that he wants a chance at bringing the games to his city.

Mayor Flanagan posted a picture of an official letter that he sent to Mitt Romney, attempting to sell his idea of the 2024 games in Fall River. He raised some interesting points about Fall Rivers history in the world of sports which make some sense with the thought of the Olympics.

People are already putting their opinions in on Facebook. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Fall River actually submits a legitimate bid in a year.
