Due to some National Grid utility work, several streets in Fall River will be closed this Saturday. So where should you avoid if you're out and about?

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says this Saturday, January 3rd from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. a couple of roads and highway exits will be off limits.

  • Exit 5 off Interstate 195 westbound
  • North/South Davol Street (Route 79) between the U-turn and Central Street

There will also be no pedestrian or bicycle access to the waterfront on Central Street between Heritage State Park and Harbor Street, but walkers and bikers can use the crossings at President Avenue and Anawan Street to access the waterfront.

All businesses will remain open and police details will be present at the following detour routes.

  • I-195 westbound traffic destined for Route 79/138 and points north should use Exit 6 or reverse direction at Exit 4.
  • North/South Davol Street (Route 79) traffic destined for points south should use President Avenue, Robeson Street and Bedford Street.
  • North/South Davol Street (Route 79) and Central Street traffic destined for points north should use North Main Street and President Avenue.
  • Central Street (Route 79/138) traffic destined for points south should use South Main Street.
