More Layoffs in Fall River 

Things are about to get a lot worse for the City Of Fall River

The Fall River Herald has reported that Mayor Sam Sutter’s administration began handing out a total of 90 layoff notifications Monday to police, fire, community maintenance and Government Center workers as he prepares for the worst-case budget scenario beginning July 1, the start of the new fiscal year.

A total of 31 police officers, 29 firefighters, 21 community maintenance workers and 9 city hall employees will receive pink slips, according to Madeline Coelho, city’s director of human resources. Fall River recently laid off many city workers including Fire fighters in addition to those about to laid off.

The notices are required to protect the city workers in a worse case scenario, Whether or not the Fall River City councill approves the Mayors budget and can effect how many lay offs are issued.
