Fall River school districts is launching a recruitment effort with 111 teaching positions available now.

According to the Herald News, there are 182 positions advertised as open across the district on the employment link on the Fall River Public Schools website. Of those 182 positions, 111 of them are teaching positions.

Those positions include 29 elementary school teaching positions, 24 middle school positions, 20 high school positions and 38 special-education teaching positions.

Rebecca Cusick, president of the Fall River Educators Association, says “I would say this is fairly normal for Fall River. I don’t think it’s totally abnormal for us to be hunting for that many teachers". She also explained that the reason so many positions are open is because of retirements and other teachers were let go.

Officials have also advertised positions via social media sites including Facebook and LinkedIn and district recruiters have attended several job fairs.

“We have great teachers, but they don’t always stay,” Jocelyn Lemaire, the executive director of Human Resources for the Fall River Public Schools said.

With a new school year rolling in soon, Fall River Public Schools have little crunch time to get the staff and faculty they need.  Find out more on their website.
