Fairhaven Police Arrest Two New Bedford Women After Pursuit

FAIRHAVEN — Fairhaven Police arrest two women after chasing their vehicle into New Bedford.

Just before 3 p.m., Fairhaven detectives observed a vehicle parked in the fire lane at the Marshall's department store. A registry check revealed the license plates on the vehicle were stolen. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled the scene, striking an unmarked police vehicle and a marked police cruiser in the process.

The vehicle fled northbound on Alden Road and continued into New Bedford. The vehicle was eventually stopped near the intersection of Seabury Street and Carlisle Street. Both occupants of the vehicle--identified as 33-year-old Sherrie Masse and 45-year-old Jeannine Vickery, both of New Bedford--were taken into custody at that time.

Both women had active warrants for their arrest. Masse's warrant was for unarmed robbery, while Vickery's warrants were for resisting arrest and larceny. Both will also be charged with shoplifting. Vickery will be charged with two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, and several additional motor vehicle violations. Vickery, who had to be subdued with a Taser, will also be charged with resisting arrest.

The vehicle occupied by the suspects was a tan 1993 Toyota Camry. Investigators discovered stolen merchandise and drug paraphernalia inside the car. After being booked, Masse and Vickery were transported to the Ash Street Jail in New Bedford, and they will be arraigned in New Bedford District Court.

No injuries were reported.
