Forget snow days, some local schools have been forced to make decisions about whether or not to have school due to the heat advisory.

According to ABC 6 Meteorologist Chelsea Priest, temperatures are expected to reach the 90's, causing a heat index to reach up to 103 degrees!

As a result, school has been cancelled today in Bourne and Barnstable Public Schools.

Wareham has decided on an early dismissal. Wareham High School and Middle Schools are being released at 10:10 a.m. Decas is being released at 11:10, and Minot Forest will be released 11 a.m.

Taunton Public Schools will also have an early release.

In my entire 20-plus-year radio career, this is the first time I've ever had to announce cancellations and closings for local schools due to excessive heat.
