About the Women's Fund

The Women's Fund is a volunteer-driven fundraising organization. They raise money for programs that help under-served women and girls become self-sufficient adults. They believe in mentoring, education and skills development allow them to flourish, contribute and become role models and leaders. This strengthens and benefits family, community and society. Funds raised support the communities of Southeastern Massachusetts, primarily in the greater New Bedford area.

History of the Tiara 5k

In the fall of 2006, a group of local women runners offered to put together a race on Mother's Day and donate the proceeds to The Women's Fund. Our first race took place on May 13, 2007. It attracted more than 350 runners and walkers, and the Dream Team hasn't looked back. 30 volunteers + 29 sponsors = A great Mother’s Day and $10,000 for The Women's Fund! Last year's race raised more than $40,000 and attracted more than 250 volunteers, 50 sponsors and 1,100 runners, walkers and fun run participants! Let's make this year's event bigger and better than ever!
